What is EFT Tapping?  

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping is a powerful somatic and cognitive tool to help regulate your nervous system, process emotions, and decrease the emotional intensity of traumatic memories and stressful events.

By tapping on specific acupressure meridian points on the body while focusing on a problem, unpleasant emotion, traumatic memory, or stressful situation, EFT tapping aims to turn down the brain’s alarm system and restore a sense of safety and well-being in your body and mind.

What does tapping help?

Since tapping on acupoints decreases activity in the amygdala (the part of the brain that senses threat) and sends a soothing signal to the limbic system, tapping can be used to address a variety of underlying issues, including:

How does tapping work? 

EFT involves tapping on a series of accupressure points on the body called meridian points. These points are believed to be connected to the body's energy pathways, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles. The stimulation of meridian points regulates the autonomic nervous system which can promote physical and emotional well-being.

The meridian points exist in corresponding pairs, running on each side of the body. EFT's Basic Recipe involves of a set of nine points that follow a specific sequence. It borrows elements from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and exposure therapy.
